BOX ELDER COUNTY

A LONG-BILLED CURLEW was seen at the Salt Creek WMA on Saturday, 03/25 (C&MSo).

Another LONG-BILLED CURLEW, and two BURROWING OWLS were seen on the road to Golden Spike NM, near where the road down Promontory Point splits off to the south, on Saturday, 03/25 (C&MSo).


CACHE COUNTY A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen at the Oxbow on the Bear River, just north of Benson, on Saturday, 03/25 (JB,BD).

Several ROSS'S GEESE were seen at the Logan Sewage Treatment Plant on Saturday, 03/25 (JB,BD).


DAVIS COUNTY At least two GLAUCOUS GULLS have been seen at FBWMA in the past week. An adult bird was seen in the northwest corner of the main pond, near the Egg Island observation point, on Saturday, 03/25 (EC,CR), and again on the north side of the pond to the north of Egg Island on Tuesday, 03/28 (CN). A second-year GLAUCOUS GULL was seen on Tuesday, 03/28, about two miles south of the locked gate on the western dike, on the east-west dike which intersects at that point (CR).

Three LONG-BILLED CURLEW were seen just below Buffalo Point on Antelope Island on Saturday, 03/25 (B&TC).


JUAB COUNTY On Sunday, 03/26, a GREAT EGRET was seen at Fish Springs NWR, and a WESTERN BLUEBIRD was seen near Keg Springs, southeast of Fish Springs (B&JM).


SALT LAKE COUNTY A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen along the JRP, just north of the power sub-station at about 3100 South, on Friday, 03/24 (JH). This is the same area where one was seen in January. Both sightings were birds of the tan-striped morph.

A NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL was heard calling in Memory Grove on Thursday, 03/30 (FH). The bird was in the tall spruce trees on the west side of the road about 1/10 mile north of the Memory House.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was seen at the Wetlands Park in Draper, at about 11800 South and 700 East, on Saturday, 03/25 (HG). The bird was along the northwest trail in the park.

A SAGE THRASHER was seen along the JRP at about 10600 South on Saturday, 03/25 (B&TC).


SEVIER COUNTY On Wednesday, 03/29, about 30 LONG-BILLED CURLEWS and a number of VIOLET-GREEN SWALLOWS were seen at Redmond Reservoir near Salina (FH).


SUMMIT COUNTY Two OSPREY were seen near Echo Reservoir on Monday, 03/27. One was on the east shore of the reservoir, and the other was just south of Coalville. Three COMMON LOONS were also on the reservoir on that day (BW).


UTAH COUNTY The year's first reports of CLARK'S GREBES comes from the marina at Utah Lake SP, where six were seen on Wednesday, 03/22 (CC,JVM).


WASHINGTON COUNTY At least one, and possibly two, male ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at Lytle Ranch in Beaver Dam Wash on Saturday, 03/25 (RF,JK,SS,KW). One sighting was near the corral, and the other (possibly the same bird), was near the entrance gate. A male Anna's Hummingbird was also seen near the entrance gate on Sunday, 03/26 (M&MSm).

VIOLET GREEN SWALLOWS were seen at Seegmiller Marsh in Washington Fields on Friday, 03/24 (JK).

NOTE: A new Utah "Big Day" record for March was set on Saturday, 03/25 by the team of Rick Fridell, Josh Kreitzer, Steve Summers, and Kevin Wheeler, who found 109 species of birds on that day. Well done!
