BOX ELDER COUNTY

A first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL was seen at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge (BRMBR) on Thursday, 02/11 (C&SA).

At Salt Creek WMA, north of BRMBR, a FRANKLIN'S GULL was seen on Saturday, 02/06. Not only was this bird here out of season, but was also in full breeding plumage, including a pink belly (AS).

Also at Salt Creek WMA, THAYER'S GULLS and about 125 BALD EAGLES were seen on Saturday, 02/06 (AS).

In White's Valley, about 30 GRAY PARTRIDGE were seen in a field of wheat stubble near the entrance to the valley on Saturday, 02/06 (TD,MS).


CACHE COUNTY A LONG-EARED OWL was seen roosting just east of Mendon on Saturday, 02/06, in the same area where they have been reported since December (TD,MS).


DAVIS COUNTY A SAGE THRASHER was seen near the visitor's center on Antelope Island on Saturday, 02/06 (TD,MS).

Also on Antelope Island on Saturday, 02/06, a MERLIN was seen near the bison corrals, and AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS were seen near White Rock Bay (DS, m.obs.).


IRON COUNTY Two female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were seen at the pond at the Kanarraville Rest Area on I-15 on Sunday, 02/07 (SS). This may be the first record for this species in Iron County.


MORGAN COUNTY A GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE has been visiting a feeder at a home in Morgan through much of the winter. It was most recently seen on Friday, 02/05 (AS).

A HARRIS' SPARROW continues to visit the feeder at the Morgan Wastewater Treatment Plant. It was also seen on Friday, 02/05 (AS).


SUMMIT COUNTY A pair of BARROW'S GOLDENEYE were seen on a small pond near the Pinebrook Cottages on Friday, 02/05 (KH).


UTAH COUNTY The FIELD SPARROW which has been at the Lindon Boat Harbor since Saturday, 01/09, continues to be seen. It was reported most recently on Monday, 02/08 (TW). The bird was in the marshy area southwest of the gate.

A WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was seen visiting a feeder in Provo on Wednesday, 02/10 (MW).

Three apparent TRUMPETER SWANS, and adult and two immatures, were seen on a pond near Lake Shore on the south side of Utah Lake (CP). The birds were in a pond which can be viewed by turning north from 4000 West and 5200 south, and going to the top of the hill. The pond is on the west side of the road.

A THAYER'S GULL was seen on the ice in the harbor at Utah Lake SP on Monday, 02/08 (CP)

An immature COMMON MOORHEN was seen at the oxbow area along the Provo River Parkway, about 1 mile upstream from the mouth of the river, on Tuesday, 02/09. Four moorhens, 2 adults and 2 immatures, were also seen at Powell Slough (DS).


WASATCH COUNTY Large flocks of GRAY-CROWNED ROSY-FINCHES continue to be seen at a feeder in Midway, with recent sightings on Sunday, 02/07 (AC) and Monday, 02/08 (MS).

A flock of about 25 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS was seen in a neighborhood on the northeast side of Heber City on Monday, 02/08 (MS).


WASHINGTON COUNTY A MERLIN was seen in the Washington Fields area on Saturday, 02/06 (JK,LW).

Several ROSS' GEESE have been at the pond on the Southgate GC in St. George for the past month (JK).
