BOX ELDER COUNTY

Three GREAT EGRETS were seen at the beginning of the loop road at Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge (BRMBR) on Saturday, 09/12 (KJ & others).

On Sunday, 09/13, a PEREGRINE FALCON and many BLACK TERNS were observed at BRMBR (J&KB).

At Willard Bay SP on Sunday, 09/13, two OSPREY were seen. These are probably the same birds which apparently nested there this summer. A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD was also seen in the campground on that day (J&KB).

DAVIS COUNTY

A male WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was seen in the enclosed harbor at the Antelope Island Marina on Friday, 09/11 (C&MS). While White-winged Scoters are reported regularly in the fall and winter, this is a particularly early date for this species.

UTAH COUNTY

A COMMON MOORHEN was seen at Utah Lake State Park on Friday, 09/11, in the small pond just north of the new campground (CP). You can see the pond easily as you drive around the campground loop.

WASHINGTON COUNTY

A male and a female HERMIT WARBLER were seen in the group camp area of the Oak Grove Campground, on the southeast side of the Pine Valley Mountains, on Saturday, 09/12. They were amongst a mixed flock which included CORDILLERAN FLYCATCHER, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH, BROWN CREEPER, HERMIT THRUSH, VIRGINIA'S WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER, and GRACE'S WARBLER (JK). To get to Oak Grove, take the road towards Silver Reef from the town of Leeds, and follow the signs to the campground in Dixie NF.

NASHVILLE WARBLERS were seen in two locations on Saturday, 09/12. One was seen in Mathis Park, along the Santa Clara River in Green Valley. The other was seen at Grapevine Pass Wash, just east of the town of Washington (JK).

A male VERMILION FLYCATCHER was seen at the Red Hills Golf Course in St. George on Saturday, 09/12 (JK).

Six GREEN HERONS were seen at six different locations, stretching from the Santa Clara River in Mathis Park to the Virgin River, just south of the town of Washington on Saturday, 09/12 (JK).
