Varied Thrush, Canvasback, Greater Scaup

Josh Kreitzer and I went out birding this morning around the county. We went to Salem Pond and were able to find the Varied Thrush in the reported location. Also there were plenty of Chickadees in the area, along with some Waxwings. We then went and checked out the pond north of Salem Pond. The one around the residential area. Here there was 5 Canvasbacks. Also at least one Greater Scaup. There was a lot of scaup on the pond. There was also Common Goldeneye and Ring Necked Ducks, Bufflehead, Green Winged Teal, Gadwall, Mallards and Belted Kingfishers around the pond. We then went and looked at the Lewis's Woodpeckers in Woodland Hills. There were Stellar Jays in the area as well. Next we went and looked at the Wood Ducks in Provo. A resident in the area expressed concern of the destruction of where the Wood Ducks were, he didn't know who to complain too? Any ideas? Also there were some Quail in the area. We then went to Utah Lake State Park to see if the Glacous Winged Gull was there. No luck, but there was at least one adult Herring Gull. Maybe this storm will bring something interesting in. especially to the southern part of the state. By the way. Is there a field trip this Saturday. Sorry for the long email. Hope all is well.
