Following are the details on the St. George Field
Trip:
Dates:
Thursday - Saturday May 9th to 11th
Thursday -
St. George area - Meet at the Virgin River Parkway trail south-
east of the south end of Bluff Street. (the south end of
the parking lot
across
from the Dixie Center)
Time: 6:30 A.M.
Those wanting
to meet us later may call my mobile 362-8288 to find out
where we are.
Friday -
Zion's National Park
Time: 7:00 A.M. at the Visitor's Center tram ride ( It
takes around an hour to
get to the
Park from St. George.)
We will take
the tram to the end of the line and walk up the trail to look
for
the Painted Redstart for those who
still want it. After finding it, we will walk
down the canyon by the river or along the
road, which ever you prefer,
so
that
those who want to get their 30 species in Zion's may do so. Those who
prefer not to
walk, may ride the tram and get off at each stop and bird that
particular
area or just sit and enjoy
nature. Dress warmly. Early hours in the
canyon can be
cold. I was still chilly with a turtleneck and sweatshirt last
Friday,
but by
afternoon I was roasting.
Saturday -
Lytle Preserve
Time:
6:30 A.M. at the top of Utah Hill ( About 1/2 hour from St. George)
From Utah Hill we
will go on to Lytle where you can spend as much time as
you
want. Some of us need to be back in Provo by early evening.
Bring what you need for
lunches. There will be quick breakfast items at my home
for anyone wanting them.
We will also have a not fancy dinner and get together at
my home Thursday night, (and
possibly Friday) y'all are invited. Address: 39 North
Valley View Drive
#1.
