During lunch today, I watched a Least Tern for about
20 minutes, starting at 12:20 PM. It was unmistakable
with a yellow bill, white "headlight", and was
noticeably smaller than the myriads of Forsters Terns
that were nearby. It's tail was not as deeply forked
as most of the other terns, but I'm not sure if that
it a fieldmark or just wear (I don't have a field
guide with me as I hadn't planned on going birding
today, it was just a spur of the moment thing.)
It was at west entrance to the main part of Lee Kay
Ponds, near the locked gate.
I'm going to stop by after work and I'll tie a rag or
something on the gate near where I saw it.
Ain't Birding Great!
Bruce
