Today, March 14th, a male Broad-tailed Hummingbird
visited our feeders several times. He is a beautiful bird with a red
throat and a white breast, accompanied by the metalic buzz described by
Williamson as "like the ringing of tiny bells". This early migrant has
arrived a least a month in advance of expectation which, in Leeds, is mid -to
-late April. The Anna's seem unperturbed by this newcomer and continue to chase
each other around.
