Thanks Diana. I already have 3 BBS routes, and probably shouldn't take on
any more. However, I'd be happy to answer any general questions anyone
might have about BBS routes.

Looks like there are some real hardship routes here in Utah, e.g. Bryce
Canyon and Moab.

Please pass the information along. On the other hand, if there's anyone in
our office who has the expertise and is interested, please let Keith know.

your FWS region

Dear USFWS Regional Migratory Non-game Bird Coordinators:

As most of you are well aware, the 2004 North Amercan Breeding Bird Survey
season is fast approaching -- June 1st for most regions, and early May for
many routes in Region 2 and the southern reaches of Region 1. Although the
State BBS Coordinators have been hard at work recruiting participants since
last season, many routes remain vacant. As in the past, your assistance in
filling vacant routes in your respective regions would be greatly
appreciated again this year. This assistance can take the form of 1)
directing qualified (must be able to identify all birds in area by sight
and vocalizations) candidates to me or the appropriate State BBS
Coordinator or, 2) sampling a route or two yourself, if not already doing
so.

To assist you I have attached an Excel file listing all vacant BBS routes
sorted by state. Route location maps and BBS Coordinator contact
information can be found on the BBS website at the following urls:

Coordinators -- www.mp2-pwrc.usgs.gov/bbs/contactus/uscontacts.html
Route location maps --
www.mp2-pwrc.usgs.gov/bbs/results/routemaps/index.html

Thank you again for assisting with this important task.

Sincerely,

Keith Pardieck
