Carma said the Flicker did not fly off until the Cooper's Hawk had passed
closely by. I'm sure the Doves and Finches vaporized quickly. Interesting
that the Flicker (a large one) displayed such confidence. Strong neck and
feet with sharper bill too threatening to the Cooper's? Cooper's not hungry
enough or well skilled enough? No taste for woodpeckers?
How long did the Dove stay on the railing? Who was the target? Unknown, but
that's the LAST time I run for binoculars when I see birds freeze like that.
