Message: We have several Lazuli Buntings frequenting our backyard, males and
females. I wondered if this bird is commonly found in the SLC area, or if it
is not. It has been nearly 15 years since I saw any here in Utah and I just
wondered. It has been at least 10 years since we had any Western Tanagers in
our backyard, too, and I hope that does not mean that they are dying out,
just moving on to higher ground.
We have been feeding Cassin's Finches, Housefinches, -and I THINK we have
had Purple Finches, as well. They were all three types coming here for a
couple of weeks, but now they are tapering off to;

Blackheaded Grosbeaks,

Bullock Orioles

Rufous Sided Towhees

Green Tailed Towhees,

Oregon Juncos,

Slate-colored Juncos,

Gray Headed Juncos,

Black Capped Chickadees,

Mountain Chickadees,

Housefinches,

Cassin's Finches,

Purple Finches,

California Quail

Mourning Doves,

Pine Siskins

A Yellow Warbler -twice only-

Red Breasted Nuthatches

Blackbilled Magpies,

Scrub Jays,

a Solitaire, and only sighted here for two days two weeks back

Red Shafted Flickers

Downy Woodpeckers,

a Yellowbellied Sapsucker,

Broadtailed Hummingbirds,

Rufous Hummingbirds,

European Starlings... :-(

I would surely appreciate any information you can share about these lovely
little Lazuli Buntings!
