Yesterday afternoon we were in the edge of the foothills overlooking
the coastal plain of Chiapas, Mexico, watching Yellow-naped and
White-fronted Parrots, and Orange-fronted and Orange-chinned Parakeets
make their roosting flights into the hills. We were still reveling in a
stunning Turquoise-browed Motmot we had seen shortly before, and
enjoying a serenade of Lesser Ground-Cuckoo, Gray-crowned Yellowthroat,
and the squabbling of a pair of Social Flycatchers chasing a
White-throated Magpie-Jay, when a large flock of birds passed high
overhead, heading north. It was a flock of about 200 Franklin's Gulls.
Has anyone seen a Franklin's in Utah yet this year? They're coming . .
. .
I think I'll be following soon. See you when I get there.
