Lee Kay Ponds (Salt Lake Co.)

I've been out of town for the past two weeks (vacation!!!  WoooooHooo!!), so I thought I'd drop by Lee Kay Ponds on the way home from work today.  Yessirree, folks, migration has begun!
At the far west end of the largest pond were over 50 Avocets huddled together in their finest spring garb.  No winter wardrobes allowed here!!
Swimming with the many Eared Grebes was a lone Franklin's Gull.  One particular Eared Grebe was being quite territorial, chasing any mallards or gooses that happened to swim nearby.  It was rather comical to watch this dimunitive grebe harrassing the birds that are much larger!!
On the "L" shaped island (and with the recent snow/rain, it really is an island again!!) were several Black Neck Stilts, and flying overhead were 2 swallows (I couldn't see them well enough to ID which species, though).  On the far bank were several Yellow Headed Blackbirds making their usual obnoxious ruckous.
The farthest pond to the east yielded 3 Pelicans, one sporting the horn growth on the top of his bill.  (Anyone have any idea whether these "horns" fall off, like a deer's antlers, or do they just recede back into the bill?)
No sign of my Least Tern, yet, but it is still early in the season!!!
