Snow Geese, Ducks and More

My dad and I headed down to Delta this morning, and got there about 8:30 am.
There were no geese at the lake yet, and I started asking around as to where
the birds might be. Kindly someone drew me a map and off we went. It was
rather incredible driving up and all the sudden seeing a whole field of white.
Literally, every Snow and Ross's Goose was located on the fields of one farmer.
The birds were located in about 4 fields but all on the same land within 1/2
mile of one another. Estimates from last week showed some 15,000 geese, and I
imagine that number is probably about what we saw. I quickly located several
Ross's Geese and got some comparison shots (nothing as nice as Marvis Collett).
We headed back to the lake at 9:30 as the birds had been showing up around
that time each day. But today they decided to wait until 10:30 to final make
the trip to the lake. In less than 15 minutes, every Goose form the field was
on the lake. It was quite teh site to see.

Also of interest on the lake were, 3 AW Pelican, a single Eared Grebe, and a
plethora of other waterfowl. There were Great-tailed Grackle as well as a
number of common yard birds in the yards along the lake.

Also seen near or around Delta were 2 Bald Eagles, 1 Golden Eagle, near
Leamington , several Harriers and Red-tail's, as well as a Falcon sp. (too far
out to ID).

Along Rout 6 at MM 138 was a lone male Mountain Bluebird, a bit early I believe,
maybe a over winter bird?

In the town of Genola there were 4 Eurasian Collared-Dove's on Main Street in
front of the LDS church.

Near Lincoln Beach were another 5 AW Pelicans, as well as a flock of about 25
American Avocet

Overall I probably had about 50 species, I haven't tallied up yet; a good day of
birding, especially after coming from the 9-10 bird days of a Wisconsin Winter.
