The "detractors" think that Mr. Avery acts like he
thinks he is David Sibley or Kenn Kaufman.
Just because one has birded in more than one state
doesn't make them an "expert", in my eyes. If that's the case, then I'm
better than the late Roger Tory Peterson (and I'm not).
I guess this teacher has never had his students say his
"quiz" wasn't fair.

As I observe
Utah listserv (BirdTalk), your contributions consistantly greatly enhance
its overall value. The pictures that you added to the UtahBirds were
great. And your weekly quiz is an important exercise in observation
for any birder. Even though in my busyness I sometimes don't get to
answering, I appreciate your efforts. As a teacher, a quiz always
needs to be a challenge to the student (or at least some of them).
Don't let any detractor sidetrack you from doing what you are doing!
BTW, if you
