EAGLES & TUNDRA SWANS AT FARMINGTON BAY

There are still approximately 200 Bald Eagles at Farmington Bay WMA.  I counted 168 this morning and I'm sure I missed a few.  The vast majority (165) were on a carp kill in the Turpin Unit, 3 miles south of the Turpin entrance gate. (This area is only accessible to the public by foot or bicycle.)  The other 3 were roosting in a willow tree near Goose Egg Island.

There are 2000-3000 Tundra Swans currently on the large pond east of the Unit 1 dike.  SWAN DAY will be Sat Mar 12, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

REMINDERS:
The Turpin unit will be completely closed to public access Mar 1 - July 31.  The Unit 1 dike will be closed to access by motor vehicles Mar 1 - July 31, but will still be accessible by foot or bicycle.
