Husband & I took my "non-birding" sister and brother-in-law to see the Eagles at Farmington Bay today and they were in "shock and awe". My sister thought 3 Eagles way out there were 3 men trespassing. Also at FB, I was able to get a couple of photos of a Male Lesser Scaup without scaring him off even if I did fall in a mud hole, bottom first. Camera, I-river and nocs made it through the indignity. See the photos (of the bird) at

Yes, I may have broken the curse upon me, I actually saw an Owl today. A gorgeous Barn Owl at Antelope Island. :) I also saw my first Horned Lark for 2005.
Two female downys have been coming to our home in Draper for the suet. We put up a roosting (nesting, we hope) box yesterday.
Has the sky always been this beautiful, intense blue in the winter?
