Raptor expert and Idaho legend Morley Nelson died Monday from heart
failure, family members said Tuesday. Nelson, 88, raised public awareness about birds of prey through dozens of movies and TV specials starring his eagle or hawks and helped convince federal officials to establish the Snake River Birds of Prey area south of Kuna. He was also instrumental in the creation of the World Center for Birds of Prey center south of Boise. Nelson, a World War II veteran, had battled heart problems and was in the VA hospital when he died at 5 p.m. Monday. |
