Hi all,
I know about Bonaparte's and Franklin's
Gulls. I've seen both. I also know that most gulls lose their hoods
in the winter. However, the guy that I saw had a hood, and I was merely
asking (after consulting a field guide and seeing that no hooded gulls are
usually in Utah in the winter) what it could possibly be because I'm not from
Utah. I would imagine that if I was back in New England and some of you
were their for your first winter birding, you might see something that you
didn't know what it was and ask a question like this.
Good birding,
Richard
