My first bird was a House Finch (of course), followed by Pine Siskins
and a Red-breasted Nuthatch.  Stephanie's first bird was the nuthatch.
Yesterday, I laughingly told my kids not to let me look out the window
until the nuthatch or the Downy Woodpecker was at the feeders so my
first bird of the year wouldn't be a house finch.  Couldn't resist
checking the feeders when I got up, though.
