1st bird 2005

Hi Y'all,

Greetings from Oregon.  My first bird of this new year in a new state 
was a Great-horned Owl hooting at 0620 (heard from my front porch).  
Light brought in StellersJays and juncos.  Pygmy Nuthatches,  
Red-tailed Hawk,  flicker, Mountain Chickadees so far today in the 
yard.

I then went out birding for a while and got my lifer Mountain Quail 
--actually 15 of them (it was huge on my want list!!).   Barrow's 
Goldeneye and Hooded Mergansers were the best of the waterfowl  for the 
day.
