I've also got a 5-6 page report of the
entire whooping crane program for the year if anyone wants to see it.

Subject: record whooping crane numbers at
Aransas
The Aransas-Wood Buffalo whooping crane population has reached
an historic milestone by shattering the threshold of 200. An aerial
census on 24 November, 2004 at Aransas estimated the number of whooping
cranes present at 181 adults + 32 young = 213 total. The record
total exceeds the previous high of 194 reached last winter. The
large increase can be attributed to the highest number of young ever to
reach Aransas. A few more whooping cranes could arrive in the
next few weeks, with peak counts usually made in mid-December.
The
results of today’s flight are incredibly satisfying and for all to enjoy
and be thankful for. The population of whooping cranes has
approximately doubled in the last 18 years.
I have contacted
External Affairs and sent them a suggested press release.
