Sabine's Gull, Stilt Sandpiper

A juvenile Sabine's Gull was at the Antelope Island causeway today. It
was feeding at the breakwater just north of the second bridge (the one
closest to the island). We saw it there at 11:00 and again at 2:00. It
flew once to the opposite side of the road, landed on the shore and
preened for 5 minutes, and then flew back to the breakwater to resume
feeding.
Two Long-billed Curlews and a Horned Grebe were also seen along the
causeway. Interestingly, a couple hundred American Pipits were on the
mudflats north of the causeway in the morning, but none were seen in the
afternoon, probably because the mudflats were now covered in water (rain
up north?).
Notable birds on Antelope Island were a pair of Peregrine Falcons on the
road to Garr Ranch, and a Barn Owl and several Townsend's Solitaires at
the ranch.
We observed 20 or so Long-billed Dowitchers and one Stilt Sandpiper near
the south end of the west dike at Farmington Bay WMA. They were last
seen feeding in one of large shallow pools about 200 yards west of the
dike.
