On Wed 9-1 Beth and I went up the Uintas to look for Gray Jays, Williamson's Sapsuckers and Three-toed woodpecker.
I went up to Mirror Lake I hike for about 1 mile on the Highline Trail from the trail head parking lot. Around 2:30pm 1/4 mile up in the trail a very curious GRAY JAY flew in close too close for my camera. It kept flying around us, from three to three giving us great look, he appeared to be intrigued by us as well and followed us for a while. Didn't find the Three-toed nor Williamson's. Also at Mirror Lake, Mountain Chickadee, Juncos, Hairy Woodpeckers, RC Kinglet, Flicker, Robin, Osprey, Raven.
After Mirror Lake I went to Antelope Island arriving there around 4:30pm, Birded the Causeway for about 2 hrs and did not find the Turnstone. Birds of interest at the causeway were the Red-necked Phalaropes, Long-billed Curlew, Greater Yellowleg.
We saw 40 birds for the day drove 300 miles, I got one lifer and my girlfriend had 6 my protoge is doing really well, she is up to 162 birds since May.
