A Williamson's sapsucker was seen up Sheep Creek at about 8 a.m. this
morning. It was observed for several minutes in a snag just off the side
of the road, several miles up the dirt road that crosses over from Sheep
Creek to Strawberry Reservoir. There were also red-naped sapsuckers,
downy woodpeckers, hairy woodpeckers, and flickers in the area. The
hills were literally alive with sound of woodpeckers drumming away. If
you visit this area, keep an eye open for bear hunters speeding up and
down the road.
