Message: Long-billed curlew locations. I have seen a pair of long-billed curlews just west of park headquaters [Antelope Island]. As you come to the intersection - right to buffalo point or left to park headquaters, take the left. Just before dropping down the hill to the headquaters the birds can be seen on the right (south side). Another pair was spotted today near the bridger bay campground.
Other sightings include the burrowing owls. Again at the intersection - take the right to buffalo point, you will come to a pull off (dirt on the left-south side of the road) look directly down the hill and the pair has been siting on the dirt moung-burrow, the last few days.
A flock of 25 black necked stilts were on the causeway this morning. Hundreds of california gulls, a pair of avocets.
Horned larks are starting to increase in numbers.
There is now a pair of Say's phobes at park headquaters. They are nesting in the big white maintenance shed.
There are many blue herons and cormoronts building nests on egg island. (Pull into the lady finger parking lot for best view). The herons and cormoronts can be seen flying from the island in early mornings and usually seen returning in the afternoons.
Many eared grebs in their bright ear colors on the causeway (did not seen them this morning thought).
Western meadow larks singing up a storm.
Many other song birds at the ranch.
Come see us, we are buzzing with birds.
