I went out last night for a little owling starting at 1230 at the SLC City Cemetery. I found one Western Screech Owl there it took forever it to reply. Then I went to the mouth of Red Butte Canyon and Ft. Douglas cemetery and nothing there.
Then I went to Emigration Canyon at the monument where the bike path begins played the Pigmy Owl call and two Great Horned Owl replyed. I only had a glimpse at one of them they stayed down.
The I drove up Mill Creek Canyon stop along the road trying for a Pigmy Owl and no replies from anything.
Then I went to Jordan River Parkway just north of 5400 South trying for Long-eared Owl. I walked to the wood bridge on the gravel path and no reply. I scared the life out of the ducks and two foxes but no owl. I headed back home at 3am.
