for Great Salt
Lake Audubon. Saturday, November 8th; 6 - 10p.m. [NOTE: does
not conflict with Utah Ornithological Society Conference which ends at
5:00]

opportunity, combine your funds, and all come to the fundraiser (or send an
emissary to bid for you). We?ll all win?you, a fabulous birding trip and a fun
evening and Great Salt Lake Audubon wins with funds to support
operations.

Explore these well
managed (for ducks, of course, but also shorebirds) privately held wetlands on
the south shore of
Great Salt Lake. The duck club abuts
Farmington
Bay and the Audubon Gillmor
Sanctuary. Peregrine Falcons and Barn Owls nest on the property.

Birding with
Ella Sorensen: a private, full day field trip
- to a place of your choosing in
Utah
- alone or with number of people you choose.
Ella is well-known Utah Birder, author, and avid protector of bird
habitats in the state. Currently she is manager of the National Audubon
Society?s Gillmor Sanctuary on the south
shore of Great Salt
Lake. For 11 years she has also written a monthly
article on birds for the Salt Lake Tribune.
Deseret Ranch: two places on
one-day trip in 2004; includes lunch and transportation

Mark?s expertise as
a birding guide is well known. He is one of few allowed to lead birding trips to
this private ranch that includes 250,000 acres of varied habitat from rolling
hills of sagebrush and grass to mountain ridges and meadows with marsh, streams,
and ponds. A one-day trip is likely to provide sighting of well over 100 species
of birds, besides other abundant wildlife and spectacular scenery. Dates
available: May 22, June 5, 12, 26 or July 17.

and riparian habitat areas. Northern Goshawk and Golden Eagles have nested in
the area. Other wildlife abounds?including wildflowers.
- Site of silver/galena
mining town in early 1890?s; privately owned 112 years as reclaimed by nature;
Bill has exclusive permission to bird the area.
- 4-wheel drive vehicle with high clearance required (3 can ride in
Bill?s vehicle)
- hike is easy and at a birder?s pace along fairly level ground with
climbs that are moderate, along an old dirt roadway that meanders through
area
