I came home this afternoon to a sharp-shinned hawk perched on my arbor
overlooking my garden area. He/she was scanning the area very intently...
after about 10-15 minutes, it did some low quick dives around my bird
feeders and flew after a finch. They descended into the field behind our
property, and I am not sure whether it was successful in its attack or
not. However, it was quite an exciting event to observe... and it was in
my own backyard!
