We did some looking around Saturday morning in
the area from Paradise, Mc Murdie hollow, Mt Sterling, Meridian road, and the
Hyrum dam. The one thing that really stood out was the presence of 43
Red-tailed hawks and a flock of 80 Sand-hill Cranes. There was a lot of A.
Goldfinches present also where ever there was sunflowers growing close to the
road. Other species observed included: Magpie, House Finch,
Red-winged Blackbird, Crow, Meadow Lark, Ring-necked Pheasant, Robin, Starling,
Cedar Waxwing, Turkey Vulture (19), Mourning Dove, White-crowned Sparrow,
Mountain Bluebird, Northern Harrier, California Gull, Common Loon, Golden Eagle,
Western Grebe, White Pelican, Great Blue Heron, Snowy Egret, Canada Goose,
Black-capped Chickadee, Killdeer, and Kestrel.
