We had such good luck at Bear River last week we decided to try it again.
We saw a great egret, two whimbrels and the every elusive Virginia rail
(all life birds). The rail foraged along the edge of the water next to our
car (calling out the whole time) for about 1/8 of a mile and didn't even
care that we were tracking him. He finally slowed down long enough to pose
for a picture.
We also saw black-crowned night herons that we couldn't find last weekend.
Lots of birds and a beautiful day.
