I went up to East Canyon early this morning (5/1) and there were
still several Common Loons along with Clark's and Western Grebes
near the dam. There were still stage grouse at the lek site;
however there is not nearly as much activity as threre has been.
Only one or two were displaying and they were far from the road,
by the time I left at 6:30 they were already flying away.
I also stopped by Pineview and there were White Pelican, Grebes,
Gulls, Red-breasted Merganser and I can't remember if there were
loons or not. I also heard Yellow and Orange-crowned Warblers
singing in the trees above the dam, but was never able to see
them.
I also saw a Wild Turkey just outside of Liberty strutting in
front of the gate on road 162 to Avon (which I discovered is
closed, bringing an abrupt halt to my trip to Hyrum to try for the
Red-throated Loon again).
