I guess my memory is getting shorter. It usually takes a couple of years to forget the long dusty ride to Fish Springs. I also should have looked at last years dates before going down. It is a couple of weeks early.
The same ducks that are at the northern refuges are all here also. The cinnamon teal are in the hundreds. The trip was salvaged when I got a short look at three different American bitterns in the same fifty yard area. Also noted were two small flocks of long-billed dowitchers, 12 or so black-crowned night herons, a lone snowy egret, two sandhill cranes, numerous savannah sparrows, and a few marsh wrens. Jack Binch
