I'm sure that, as a state-first record, photos and description will be 
submitted to the records committee, where I'm sure a lively debate will 
occur. Hopefully there are good photos to work with, as this i.d. is 
not trivial. For my part, I haven't seen enough in terms of 
descriptions or photos to make a judgment - though I did e-mail Larry 
to see if I could have a look at his photos. I'll reserve judgment on 
this one until I see the evidence. In spite of the fact that this may 
be a state-first record, it's not necessarily that unexpected, 
especially for this time of year. One might ask why it hasn't been 
recorded before. It's probably because of the difficulties of making 
this i.d. It's much more likely, for example, than several Western 
Gulls at Bear River Refuge during the breeding season.
