Yellow-billed Cuckoo

River Lane near Lake Shore, Utah Co.

Aaron Smith reported a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO on River Lane this morning at about 9:30.  It was located about 50 feet down from a pipe (you can hear the water) that empies into the river which is about a 100 yard down from the cattle grating at the beginning section of River Lane that goes along the river just before it empties into Utah Lake.

To get there take exit 263 (Springville) from I-15, and head west for about 4.5 miles to a "T" in the road.  Turn right and go to the next road about a block away just before the road crosses the Spanish Fork River, and turn right onto River Lane.  Continue about a mile until the asphalt ends then turn left on the dirt road that reaches the Spanish Fork river in a couple of blocks. Then follow directions above.

It would be advisable not to play the call to get it to come in, since this particular species is very sensitive to such things and needs to be protected as much as possible.
