General Waterbird Survey

We have received some excess water from
Pelican Lake and have started to put water into Sheppard Bottom. Two
units in Leota Bottom have some water remaining from 2004. The following
birds were seen within the survey route:
Canada geese 207
Mallard 718
Gadwall 199
American wigeon 46
Northern pintail 917
Northern shoveler 20
Cinnamon teal 12
Green-winged teal 1,236
Ringneck 9
Common goldeneye 3
Bufflehead 37
Coots 192
Great blue heron 2
Sandhill crane 12
Killdeer 2
Bald eagle 13
Red-tailed hawk 3
Northern harrier
