Bear River Refuge

Happy New Year!

The majority of the wetland units around the tour loop are frozen.
However, you still may see a variety of birds around the tour-loop if
you're up for a drive including: Red-winged Blackbird, Goldfinch, Western
Meadowlark, Marsh Wren, Raven, Great Blue Heron, Peregrine Falcon, Bald
Eagle, Northern Harrier, Rough-legged Hawk, Short-eared Owl, and maybe a
stray Tree-Sparrow. Unit 1, or the unit on the north end of the loop has a
little open water again so there are still a number of duck species and
swans around too.
