I started off the year by birding the Great Salt Lake and surrounding areas this
morning. The most interesting bird was a Greater White-fronted Goose with a
flock of about 150 - 200 Canada Geese. The bird may be a hybrid w/ a Canada or
Snow, but I am not sure, it may just be a dark GWFG.

This bird was across the street from Kaysville ponds, in the field to the
southeast of the intersection of Sego Lily and 50 west.
On Kaysville Ponds were 5 HOODED MERGANSERS.
Mayors Pond had 2 Greater Scaup one male and one female, with a female Lesser
Scaup, and literally no other waterfowl. At Framington Bay there are large
numbers of Eagels now, and AI causway was quiet, with large numbers of mostly
Common Goldeneye.
A good way to start the year, and my first bird was a Canada Goose, nothing
exciting.
