Hello All,
Yesterday (Friday), on my way to work, I saw a small, stubby-looking bird
fly over the I-15 about 1/2 miles south of the Orem-University Pkwy.
exit. While I could not be 100% sure, my best guess was Red-breasted
nuthatch based on the distinctive shape, size and flight.
Later on, my wife emailed me, giving a very nice description of 2
Red-breasted Nuthatches that she and a friend saw in some pines to the
north of the Creamery on 9th East, just east of the BYU Campus.
Just curious if anyone else has noticed an influx of these guys in the
lower elevations lately.
Also, the Blue Jay in Holladay was still around as of Wednesday. I didn't
get to see it but I heard it in the distance, apparently shortly after it
visited the feeder it has been frequenting. Thanks to Jules Dreyfous for
sharing his feeder with such a neat bird and interested birders.
And, lastly, in this jumble of sightings, I had at least 2 Juncos visiting
my yard in Provo yesterday morning. We scattered a little more seed around
so hopefully they'll stick around.
Good Birding,
Matt Williams
Provo, UT
