At 11:43am this morning, after a 2 1/2 hr watch, the PURPLE GALLINULE walked out of the cover at the described Jordanelle Wetland location in Watsatch County. It stayed in the open off and on for about 5 minutes, then scurried for cover when a car drove past.
It's a brightly colored adult bird, easy to ID, but quick to spook and head for cover. So take care to avoid loud talking and unnecessary moving around. Take a chair and be patient. It's worth the wait! It may be another 70 years before another shows up in our state
