Hi all
I went for a short birding walk yesterday in my
neighborhood around the Hyrum State Park. I noticed that the reservoir is
starting to thaw, which bodes well for the birds. Here's what I
saw:
Red-tailed hawk
Downy Woodpecker
Ring-billed Gull
Black-billed Magpie
Northern Flicker
European Starling
Black-capped Chickadee
House Finch
Rock Pigeon
Brewer's Blackbird
Dark-eyed Junco
White-crowned Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
American Crow
The only new Utah bird for me was the Brewer's
Blackbird, which I was surprised to see; though upon inspection of range maps
and checklists, I see that they are common all year in the state.
Good birding,
Richard
