Bear River Refuge Waterbird/Raptor Survey

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge
Box Elder County
Waterbird/Raptor Survey
2/20/04

The warmer temperatures have not yet resulted in opening up of any of the
Refuge impounded wetlands. Historic Refuge surveys for this time of
year show we usually have about 20,000 ducks. Raptor numbers are about
average. The tour route is drivable though there is little to no open
water to be seen and very few birds. Notable birds, 2 pair of Cinnamon
Teal and a Merlin.
