We camped at Devil's Canyon (US Forest Service) campground between
Monticello and Blanding last night. The camp host told us where to find
the granary tree used by the Acorn Woodpeckers but he said he had not seen
them for "a couple months". Nor did we see any. Does anyone know if these
woodpeckers usually do not stay year-round at Devil's Canyon or if their
leaving may be due to this year's drought? Does anyone know how long the
woodpeckers have been there?
Thanks for any information available,
Mona Hill
