Re: [birdnet] American Redstart - Julie Vanmoorhem

Glad to hear someone else got to see it. A male American Redstart was caught and banded there on Friday June 7th. Also of interest, a male Black-throated Blue Warbler in full breeding condition was caught and banded at lower Sheep Creek Canyon Geologic Loop on Tues June 4th.

Subject: American Redstart

Birded the BOR in Heber today , Sunday, June 9th. Got a male American Redstart in breeding plummage. Directions: Go to the end of the road below the dam and park. Enter the trail on the south side of the maintenance building across from the campground and walk approximately 1/4 mile to the south. On the east side of the trail there is a stake with a blue-and-white striped survey tape marker (you will have crossed a short boardwalk just before this; if you come to another boardwalk after you pass the stake you've passed the area where the bird was seen). The Redstart was seen on the west side of the trail flying back and forth in an area about 30' long, parallel to the trail. The trees here are a mix of live and dead, the bird was sometimes high but mostly just a few feet above head height.

Also seen at the BOR along the river: several Gray Catbirds and 2 Dippers. North Fields behind The Other End bar, approximately 1 mile to the west: Bobolinks. Calleen Cox's house: 2 Northern Mockingbirds
Good birding,
Julie

P.S.
Forgot to mention that Alan Fuchs spotted the bird, and Jill Fuchs, Bob Huntington and I reaped the benefits! Julie
