My mystery place . . .

Sorry that I didn't get a chance to post the location before my tour last Friday - the crush of
last minute preparations (including the need to fix a flat tire) kept me from my computer.
Milton Moody was the first one to correctly guess the location - the southern end of the Grouse
Creek Mountains and Lucin (Milton - thanks for posting my reply to you). The thing that struck
me about the list (this was noticed by Colby Neuman) was the fact that there were no introduced
species on it. In fact, I birded the whole day until about 6 pm, when I was on the way home,
before I saw my first introduced bird (a starling, of course). In fact, I only saw one magpie
and four robins, and those late in the day. In all, it was a strange, and thoroughly enjoyable,
day of birding . . .

We had a good Memorial Day trip to Deseret Ranch, with a couple of good birds among the 153
species we found. In addition to the Ruddy Turnstone on the AI causeway, which we saw on the way
to the ranch, we had a male Black-throated Blue Warbler on Saturday, May 25, and a Louisiana
Waterthrush on Monday, May 27. The waterthrush is very likely the same bird we first saw (and
photographed) two weeks ago, but hadn't seen since. Who knows where he hides???

Good birding!
