Washington County:
Yesterday evening, May 14, a Clay-colored Sparrow and a Philadelphia
Vireo were seen at the Dixie Red Hills Golf Course in St. George. They
were both along the second hole, the Vireo in the trees and the Sparrow
feeding on the lawn. Identifying characteristics on both were well seen.
Also seen here were a pair of Vermillion Flycatchers, a male "Myrtle"
Yellow-rumped Warbler and some 30 other species. All were still there
this morning except for the Vireo.
Also this morning a Black Swift was seen flying over the pond at Springs
Estates in Washington Fields.
At Lytle Ranch yesterday morning, over 50 species were seen, including
Townsends's Warblers, Black-tailed Gnatcatchers, and a pair of
Brown-crested Flycatchers.
At Zion National Park, the Painted Redstart was singing in the Seeps area
of the Riverside Trail on Monday morning (11:30 am), May 13.
Garfield County:
On Sunday, May 12, two Great Egrets were in a farm pond just north of
mile marker 144 on Highway 89.
Utah County:
Sunday morning May 12, along the west side of the Provo airport dike, a
pair (m & f) of "Myrtle" Warblers were seen. (The male Myrtle is so
distinctive and beautiful, it's too bad it is only a sub-species.) Also,
two Great Egrets were in the moat on the East side of the Airport.
