Golden Eagles

I had a nice little hike up Battlecreek canyon near Lindon on Friday and saw 
some nice birds including red-breasted nuthatches, brown creepers, Townsen 
solitaire, and Golden Eagles.  I watched one eagle land in a nest high on the 
cliff wall where it just hung out for at least 10 min.  Would the eagles be 
nesting up this early?  I assume that they don't just hang out in nests without 
reason.
