I just received a call from David Wheeler, who is on his way back from checking out the reported
"Black-bellied Whistling-Duck" at the Kaysville Pond. David reports that the bird is not a
Black-bellied Whistling-Duck, or even any kind of whistling-duck, but rather some kind of
shelduck. His best guess (pending further consultation of his library when he gets home) is some
kind of domestic/hybrid/mongrel Ruddy Shelduck. It's clearly an escaped domestic duck.
