CACHE COUNTY
At Hyrum Reservoir, a PACIFIC LOON continued to be seen , at least through Monday, 11/12, when
it was seen at the west end of the lake near the campground (JL). Also on Monday, 11/12, three
juvenile TRUMPETER SWANS were seen (JL). They were seen again on Friday, 11/16 (BS,DS,LS) and on
Wednesday 11/21 (JL). These birds were captured and marked with an orange wing-mark and green
neck band at Harriman SP in Idaho.
DAVIS COUNTY
A COMMON REDPOLL was seen at a feeder in Woods Cross on Thursday, 11/15 (SC). The bird was there
in the morning of the 15th, but has not been seen since.
A female SURF SCOTER continues to be seen at about mile marker 1 along the AIC. It was reported
Thursday, 11/15 (KC,PF), Friday 11/16 (GB), and Saturday, 11/17 (JL). Other birds along the AIC
included at least 4 HORNED GREBES, seen near the east end on Friday, 11/16 (GB), and some late
SNOWY PLOVERS near mile marker 1 on Saturday, 11/17 (JL).
At FBWMA, an AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was seen near the turnout for the Bald Eagle overlook on
Thursday, 11/15 (KC,PF). Seven American Tree Sparrows were seen just east of there, where the
road bends west, on Wednesday, 11/21 (TJ). Also on Wednesday, 11/21, four HORNED GREBES were
seen at FBWMA (TJ).
RICH COUNTY
A BROWN THRASHER was seen at a cabin just west of Garden City on Sunday, 11/18 (JB). It was seen
about 2.5 miles east of the town.
SAN JUAN COUNTY
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen just north of Devil's Canyon, about 10 miles south of Monticello, on
Sunday, 11/11 (J&KB).
UTAH COUNTY
A female HOODED MERGANSER was seen at the Provo Airport on Wednesday, 11/21 (RS). It was in the
canal along the south side of the airport, about 100 yards west of the south extension to the
airport dike.
A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen at the campground at Utah Lake SP on Wednesday, 11/14 (KC).
The first-winter HARRIS'S SPARROW, which was seen along the Jordan/Provo River Parkway north of
the Utah
Lake SP marina was seen again on Saturday, 11/10 (J&KB). It was still near the Osprey nesting platforms.
WASHINGTON COUNTY
A RED-THROATED LOON was seen at Quail Creek Reservoir on Thursday, 11/22 (RF). It was about 100
yards west of the overlook of the Quail Creek dike. If accepted, this will be the third record
of Red-throated Loon in Utah.
Other birds at Quail Creek Reservoir included at least 2 PACIFIC LOONS, seen Sunday, 11/18
(KCo,RF), and again on Thursday, 11/22 (RF), and a HOODED MERGANSER, seen on Thursday, 11/22 (RF).
