Birders
Dana Green and Julie Van Mooren(Spelling?) mentioned Thursday that they =
found a short-billed Dowitcher at Glover Ponds. I checked them today =
Sept. 28 at 12:00. There was for sure 1 Short-billed among a group of =
Dowitchers. They were spooked and flew and both calls were heard. =
There was a definite rapid Tu-Tu-Tu among the Keep sounds. Also, the =
wind was fairly heavy and the feathers were standing. Good views at =
tail feathers which confirmed the ID for me. I only had one however. =
The others might still be Short-billed.
There were a flock of 5 Stilt sandpipers and the usual Greater and =
Lesser Yellowlegs. At the end of the west dike road at Farmington Bay, =
was a pair of Baird's Sandpipers and a flock of Least. A few Western =
Grebes and the usual ducks rounded up the day.
