The River Lane warbler fest continues!
Kathy and I saw a first winter (immature) Chestnut-sided Warbler on River
Lane in Lake Shore (Utah Co.)at about noon today. It was .1 mile after
crossing the cattle guard, on the right side of the road. We both got
great looks. This bird didn't quite live up to its name -- immatures
don't have chestnut sides!
The Black-and-white Warbler was still in the same spot (.2 mile, flagged)
at about 2:00 p.m. I saw it unaided, but after 30 fruitless minutes of
further searching, we resorted to a tape so Kathy could see it. The B & W
responded immediately and quite vocally, both calling and singing.
Wonderful!
Townsend's, Nashville, Wilson's, Virginia's, Yellow-rumped, Yellow,
Orange-crowned, and Macgillivray's Warblers were also seen. The earlier
reported Purple Martin (or another) was briefly seen flying with
swallows.
Good birding,
Joel
